I am a freelance costume designer based in New York City and a faculty member at the State University of New York at New Paltz. I love being able to combine my passion for theatre design with my life-long ambition to become an educator. After several years working primarily as a freelance and assistant designer in the city, I was fortunate to get a teaching position just north of NYC in the beautiful Hudson River Valley. Today I balance my professional and academic work, often combining both by hiring my students as assistants and wardrobe staff.
I hold an MFA in Costume Design from Florida State University, a BFA in Theatre and a BS in History from Utah State University. I have always enjoyed the intersection of research, culture and academic study with the art and craft of creating live theatre. Being able to teach the History of Fashion and then work with students to design and create costumes for the stage is truly a delight.
I’m a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, USITT and the Costume Society of America. I’m a proud founding member of Jaradoa Theater Company, which is an arts organization in New York City committed to providing outreach and education in our communities as well as staging professional productions.
